An Encantadora's Guide to Monstros and Magic by Sarah J. Mendonca

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

An Encantadora’s Guide to Monstros and Magic by Sarah J. Mendonça is an action-packed, magical adventure set in a Portuguese-inspired world, blending the charm of Encanto with the intrigue of Ocean’s 8. The story follows Rosa Coelho, a young girl who has spent her life hunting monstros with her best friend, Tiago, and dreaming of a better future for herself and her grandmother. When her family’s shop is threatened by the Ministry of Monsters, Rosa sees an opportunity to change her fate by tricking her way into a notorious thief crew as their magical safecracker.

Mendonça’s worldbuilding is rich and immersive, with a vibrant city full of magic, danger, and high-stakes heists. Rosa’s journey into the world of luxury and betrayal is filled with twists and turns as she navigates a dangerous mission to steal from the Ministry itself. With her magical abilities and newfound allies, Rosa must trust herself and her crew to pull off the heist, knowing that failure means losing everything she holds dear.

The book combines heart-pounding action with a strong, relatable protagonist who must balance her desire for a better life with the risks of betrayal and corruption. The themes of loyalty, courage, and self-discovery are woven seamlessly into the plot, and the diverse characters and relationships add depth to the story.

An Encantadora’s Guide to Monstros and Magic is a thrilling, magical ride that will captivate fans of fantasy-adventure. Mendonça’s debut is perfect for readers who enjoy fast-paced heists, magical worlds, and strong, resilient protagonists.

The Heartless City

The Heartless City By: Andrea Berthot                                I love this book, (I did an all nighter to finish it.) . The Heartless City (great title and cover) is one of the best tales of the story Jekyll & Hyde I have ever read. The characters are relatable, the writing is fantastic, its filled with love, horror, drama, and betrayal. I feel sad when I read parts with Cam but I guess that means I feel like i could actually meet these characters. The only thing that I think could change is that they should have brought in Iris's dad ( who I can't reveal) into the book at the end. To sum it up: It starts in London with Henry Jekyll who was a brilliant doctor, a passionate idealist who aimed to free mankind of selfishness and vice. He’s also the man who carelessly created a race of monsters. Once shared secretly amon...

Salutations!

Hi I'm new to this to say the least. Well wait that's not quite true I read constantly! I write occasionally but I have never besides once recently written a book review. I am use to telling my family or friends a short summary that includes the plots and twist for each of the books I read. So writing online on my blog should be the same, of course here I can't rush the review. I also can't say as many and's or any way's, until I remember the part of the book I was trying to talk about. Hopefully I just need to read a book and write a review it shouldn't be that hard right? I am going to post a review as soon as I can.  the one I have done most recently is here hope you enjoy: https://www.thereadingroom.com/book/the-heist/7263067
