Rating: (5/5 stars)

Catherine Mack's second installment in her gripping mystery series, *No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding*, exceeds expectations, delivering an enthralling tale of secrets, betrayal, and murder. With her signature style, Mack expertly weaves a web of suspense that will keep readers hooked until the very last page.

The story begins with what should be a joyous occasion—a grand wedding at a picturesque venue. But as the vows are exchanged, the carefully curated celebration unravels into chaos when a shocking murder shatters the event. The narrative follows the sharp and resourceful detective protagonist as they uncover dark truths hidden beneath the surface of a seemingly perfect family. Mack’s talent for character development shines through, as each suspect is fleshed out with believable motives and compelling backstories.

One of the novel’s greatest strengths is its setting. Mack's vivid descriptions immerse the reader in the wedding’s opulent yet tension-filled atmosphere. From the glittering chandeliers to the whispered arguments in the shadows, every detail adds to the mounting suspense.

The plot is a masterclass in misdirection. Just when you think you've identified the killer, Mack introduces another twist that leaves you second-guessing. The pacing is impeccable, balancing fast-paced moments of action with quieter, introspective scenes that delve into the protagonist's personal struggles and moral dilemmas.

Catherine Mack once again proves why she is a standout voice in the mystery genre. *No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding* is a must-read for fans of intricate whodunits and richly drawn narratives. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or a newcomer, this book promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of mystery and intrigue.

The Heartless City

The Heartless City By: Andrea Berthot                                I love this book, (I did an all nighter to finish it.) . The Heartless City (great title and cover) is one of the best tales of the story Jekyll & Hyde I have ever read. The characters are relatable, the writing is fantastic, its filled with love, horror, drama, and betrayal. I feel sad when I read parts with Cam but I guess that means I feel like i could actually meet these characters. The only thing that I think could change is that they should have brought in Iris's dad ( who I can't reveal) into the book at the end. To sum it up: It starts in London with Henry Jekyll who was a brilliant doctor, a passionate idealist who aimed to free mankind of selfishness and vice. He’s also the man who carelessly created a race of monsters. Once shared secretly amon...

Salutations!

Hi I'm new to this to say the least. Well wait that's not quite true I read constantly! I write occasionally but I have never besides once recently written a book review. I am use to telling my family or friends a short summary that includes the plots and twist for each of the books I read. So writing online on my blog should be the same, of course here I can't rush the review. I also can't say as many and's or any way's, until I remember the part of the book I was trying to talk about. Hopefully I just need to read a book and write a review it shouldn't be that hard right? I am going to post a review as soon as I can.  the one I have done most recently is here hope you enjoy: https://www.thereadingroom.com/book/the-heist/7263067
